Khedira salutes Germany
Germany midfielder Sami Khedira has hailed his team-mates after they ended their World Cup campaign with a third-place play-off 3-2 victory over Uruguay.
The Stuttgart man nodded home late in the day as they ended their South Africa adventure in style and the 23-year-old paid a warm tribute to his colleagues, insisting they can go even further in Brazil in four years time.
Speaking after the game, he said: "It's a tribute not just to the team, but to all 23 players here that we were able to give a good performance and keep the quality high.
"Of course we had all hoped for something better, but this match for third place was also a final that we absolutely wanted to win.
"We've done well here but next time we want to get to the next level.
"At this World Cup we were a very young team and we've put down a marker. But we obviously want to win more in the future."
