Greece

Otto Rehagel will be leading his aging Greek side to South Africa in hope of a performance akin to their success in Portugal in the Euro 2004 tournament where Angelos Charisteas’ goal saw them past hosts Portugal.

Since that victory in 2004 it hasn’t been a great time in Greek football as they failed to get to the World Cup in Germany and performed poorly in Euro 2008.

The public’s support of ‘King Otto’ has seen him keep his job and he will be trying to make sure he repays their faith with a good showing in South Africa.

Star Man - Theofanis Gekas

Top goalscorer in World Cup qualifying, Gekas loves playing football on the international stage under coach Otto Rehhagel.

While the Greek striker's form for recent clubs hasn't been the best, Gekas has flourished as Rehhagel's lone target man and his international tally is testament to this.

Having had an alright season at Hertha Berlin despite their relegation from the Bundesliga, Gekas could provide the goals like Angelos Charisteas did in 2004 as Greece attempt to stun football again.

Coach - Otto Rehhagel

Greece manager since 2001, Rehhagel is known affectionately as King Otto by the fans as he not only has turned the national team into a competitive country but he guided them to become 2004 European Champions against all odds, beating Portugal twice (in the first game of the tournament and the final) and France on the way to lifting the trophy.

Despite Rehhagel's success his willingness to play defensive football means his side are often involved in some unexciting games but that won't bother those who worship King Otto as long as they can get out of the group stage in South Africa.

One to Watch - Sotiris Ninis

Known as the Greek Kaka, Ninis is about to announce himself on the world stage if Otto Rehhagel allows him the chance to shine.

Given his Panathinaikos debut at the age of 16 the gifted midfielder, fond of a dribble or two, impressed from the start and despite injury problems and concerns over burn out, Ninis continues to develop.

With a whole host of top European clubs are looking at signing him, he may find himself outside of Greece after a trip to South Africa this summer.

Odds to win - 125/1
