Korea DPR or North Korea were the surprise package of the Asian Zone qualifying group and managed to clinch an automatic qualifying spot behind South Korea.

Star Man - Hong Yong JoCurrently playing for Russian side FC Rostov, North Korean striker Hong Yong Jo will be a key player whose experiences outside of his home country will be vital to help the other members of the squad adapt to playing against different styles of football.
Captain and penalty taker his role for the North Koreans will be vital, while not a first team regular in Russia he is one of the first names on the team sheet for national coach Kim Jong Hun.
Coach - Kim Jong Hun
While North Korea are 1000/1 outsiders for the competition coach Kim Jong Hun is making sure he is well prepared for the World Cup to ensure the minnows aren’t embarrassed in South Africa.
The coach has prepared his side for the various styles of football North Korea may encounter with friendlies recently in France with Nantes and the Democratic Republic of Congo. These tests resulted in two nil nil draws against the French second division side and the African nation.
While their goal scoring ability is under question it is their defence, which will come under the most scrutiny especially as their World Cup group includes Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast.
It looks like Kim Jong Hun will have to do a lot to repeat the feat of the 1966 North Korean squad and surprise the world.
One to Watch - Jong Tae-Se
Born in Japan and playing for Kawaski Frontale, the people’s Rooney is an unlikely hero for North Korea.
This ambitious striker has dreams of playing in England and it may not be as unlikely as it sounds following a fantastic run of form for his county which includes two goals against Greece and one against Nigeria in preparation for the World Cup.
Overall the striker has been capped on 22 occasions and had the ball in the back of the net 15 times and in Japan he is regularly one of the leagues top goal scorers.
