The Stars and Stripes will be flying proudly in South Africa as Bob Bradley guided the USA to top spot in the CONCACAF qualifying ahead of Mexico and Honduras.
The American’s will be looking to take their good form into the FIFA 2010 World Cup and will be trying to put their poor performance in 2006 behind them.
David Beckham’s Los Angeles Galaxy team mate Landon Donovan, the American captain is the undoubted star of the side and with Tim Howard in goal and other European based players forming the core of the side we could see a strong showing from America. Especially after their Confederation’s Cup display where they reached the final only to be beaten by Brazil.
Star Player - Landon DonovanAmerica's Top goal scorer of all time with 42 goals, Landon Donovan, LA Galaxy's star striker will be hoping a spell in the Premier League with Everton will help him reach top of his game.
Donovan is a player who on his day is difficult to pick up as he drifts back into midfield to pick up the ball and run at defences and alongside a new breed of young American footballers who will be hungry for success in South Africa he could help fire the stars and stripes to glory.
Coach - Bob Bradley
Sport runs through the very core of the Bradley family Bob is the coach of the American national side, his brother is a former Baseball star and his other brother is a writer for ESPN, while Bob's son Michael will be on view and looking to star in midfield for them.
Bob started his managerial career in the American University leagues at the age of 22 and under the wing of Bruce Arena has progressed all the way to the pinnacle of coaching the national side.
Bradley's side will be on a high after a great Confederations Cup performance in 2009 where they beat European Champions Spain 2-0 ending their 35 game unbeaten run.
One to Watch - Michael Bradley
Nepotism is not a claim you can make when you're talking about Michael Bradley's place in the American side. A real box-to-box midfielder Bradley weighs in defensively and whilst attacking and will be pivotal in his Dad's plans this summer.
Bradley started out playing for the then MetroStars (now New York Red Bulls) before a transfer to Heerenveen in Holland at the age of 21, here he starred and in his first full season the youngster scored 16 league goals from midfield.
Now playing for Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Bundesliga, Michael Bradley isn't scoring the goals he did in Holland but he is still contributing valuably as Gladbach attempt to rise up the league.
