Coca-Cola Park

A venue which has bought triumph and disaster to South Africa; this was where the Springboks won the 1995 rugby World Cup, and where, six years later, during a local derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, 120,000 fans crushed into the
60,000 seater stadium and 43 people lost their lives.

Since then it has increased capacity, laid a new pitch, added an audio-visual setup and placed team whirlpools in the changing rooms; a players’ favourite then.

Claim to fame
Ellis Park hosted this year’s Confederations Cup final between USA and Brazil,
where the South Americans came from 2-0 down to ruin the American dream.
