
One of South Africa’s oldest stadiums, having hosted sporting events since 1906. One of its proudest moments came in 1999 when South Africa’s football team scored their first win over a European nation, beating Sweden 2-1.
Numerous upgrades have taken place, but perhaps the most crucial came in 1928 when changing rooms and toilets were added. The place now holds 50,000 and has had a new roof fitted in preparation for the Finals.
Claim to fameHome to the Blue Bulls rugby union team, captained by Springbok’s star lock Victor Matfield and, until recently, also Bryan Habana. The Bulls were crowned 2009 Super 14
champions in May this year after a 20-19 win over fellow South African side, Sharks.
